improve CTR using Ad Colours

When it comes to choosing your ad colours, there are three strategies you can adopt:
Blend , Contrast and Vary
These strategies are not about misleading the reader as this might seem to some of you, it is all about helping him have a look at the ads and then decide whether or not he (or she) wants to click the ad. We are not forcing people to click, just letting them give the ad a chance to convince.

Blending

Blending makes the ad look like your site's content. If your links are blue, then the ad link should also be blue. The same symmetry will be applied to the other components of the ad. Here are the rules we use:

AD PROPERTIES
SITE PROPERTIES

URL Colour

Links Colour OR Text Colour

This strategy obtains best results when used in these cases:

- You have mostly first time visitors

- People read through your content

- Informative site (not a tool...)

- Your target doesn't know about AdSense

Contrasting

Contrasting makes the ads stand out of the rest of your content. It is basically the opposite of the blend strategy as it uses colours that are completely different from those you are using in your content. An example:

As you can see, we mostly use flashy colours to attract attention.

This strategy works best when used in these cases:

- Poor ad placement

- Your target is mainly young and curious

- Dark background

- Discussion boards

Varying

Varying is about frequently shifting from a colour strategy to another. The AdSense interface offers the possibility to do so automatically by using the multi palette selection and with no changes in the code.

This strategy works best when used in these cases:

- You have mostly returning visitors

- You do not want to change your layout / ad placement
